Seal Island Trips and Whale Watching cruises are done hourly everyday and depart from the harbour. Spotting sharks, dolphins or maybe even whales are not a rare occurrence. Humpback and Southern Right whales come to Mossel Bay every year to breed (particularly between July and December).
Explore the history and architectural heritage of Mossel Bay with buildings built between the 1830′s and 1900′s. Mossel Bay Tourism office has maps available which marks all the historical buildings along the Historic Walk. The map marks over 60 buildings including schools, homes, churches, municipal and commercial buildings as well as the Cape St Blaize Lighthouse which to explore.
This complex offers a variety of interesting activities and sites including the The Dias Maritime Museum which hosts the life-size model of the vessel, Dias Caravel, on which Portuguese seafarer and explorer Bartholumeu Dias arrived in Mossel Bay in 1488. The 500 year old Post office Tree which is a national monument, the Botanical Garden, the fresh water fountain and the Shell Museum and Aquarium.

Mossel Bay offers a couple of interesting dive sites, for example, the Santos Wreck where the ship The Santos’s wreck lies since 1874. There are a couple of reefs that offer ocean life like featherworms, sea fans, redbait, octopus and abundant schools of blacktail, Orange sponges up to 3m in length, banks of sea grass and large red romans. The Cape St Blaize Hiking Trail – The beginning of the hike starts at the Cave at the Point and after hiking the 13.5km you’ll end up in Dana Bay. Following the contour path along the cliffs you could spot whales (during migration season between July and December) and schools of dolphins. The white-coloured Oystercatcher bird marked on rocks for you safety and convenience, marks the way on the St Blaize Trail. The magnificent views and the fynbos scent in the air are sure to take your breath away!
