Directions from Cape Town

From Cape Town, take the N2 highway eastbound towards George. Continue on the N2 for approximately 390 km (around 4 to 4.5 hours) until you reach the Mossel Bay off-ramp. Follow the signs leading to Mossel Bay Central/Point Area. Continue straight through town and follow Marsh Street down toward the Point. At the traffic circle near the ocean, take the exit onto Point Road - you’ll find Point Village Hotel on your right at No. 5 Point Road.

Overview:

• Destination: Point Village Hotel, 5 Point Road, The Point, Mossel Bay, 6500
• Approximate Distance: 1,100 - 1,200 km (depending on your starting point in Gauteng)
• Approximate Driving Time: 11 - 13 hours (excluding extended breaks)

Recommended Route (Via N1 & N2):

1. Depart Gauteng: Take the N1 South highway towards Bloemfontein.
   - If starting from Johannesburg, follow signage for the N1 to Bloemfontein/Cape Town.
   - If starting from Pretoria, take the N1 South via the "Durban" direction, which curves to join the N1 towards Johannesburg and then continues south.
2. Continue on N1: Stay on the N1 South for approximately 400km, passing through Bloemfontein.
3. Switch to the N12: After Bloemfontein, take the exit onto the N12 West towards Kimberley. Continue on the N12.
4. Merge onto the N1 (Cape Town Route): Near the town of Three Sisters, the N12 merges with the N1 South towards Cape Town. Follow the N1.
5. Transition to the N2: Continue on the N1 past the Hex River Valley. After the town of Worcester, take the exit onto the N2 East towards Swellendam and George.
6. Follow the N2 to Mossel Bay: Stay on the N2 for approximately 300km. You will pass through Riversdal and the Langeberg Mountains. The highway will lead you directly into Mossel Bay.
7. Final Approach to Point Village Hotel:
   - As you enter Mossel Bay on the N2, look for the turn-off to the city center / harbour.
   - You will head towards the ocean and "The Point" area.
   - Follow signs for The Point and the Cape St. Blaize Lighthouse.
   - Once on The Point peninsula, follow Point Road. The hotel will be on your right-hand side at 5 Point Road.

Important Tips & Suggestions:

• Tolls: This route includes several toll plazas (e.g., Verkeerdevlei, Huguenot). Ensure you have cash or a valid electronic tag.
• Fuel: Refuel at major towns (Bloemfontein, Kimberley junction, Beaufort West, George) as some stretches are long and remote.
• Rest Stops: Plan to take regular breaks. Major service stations and towns offer good stopping points for food and rest.
• Alternative/Scenic Route: For a more coastal drive, you can take the N2 from the start via Durban, but this is significantly longer.
• Navigation: It is highly recommended to use a reliable GPS navigation app (like Google Maps or Waze) with your final destination ("Point Village Hotel, Mossel Bay") entered for real-time guidance and traffic updates.
